Be Disciplined & Diligent in ERP Usage

There are certain essentials which you have to follow if you want to make a system work or for the system to be successful. The first and the foremost important thing is discipline. So if you are working with discipline, entering information with due diligence - what happens is you have access to real time information within no time.

When we implemented ERP, we had to bring a lot of discipline in the way we work. Earlier I remember our balance sheets used to be finalized somewhere by the end of September or mid-October and the signature would take at least another month. I would sign the balance sheet every year on 30th of November, at midnight.

But now, with ERP in place, we make balance sheets every quarter; and these are all balance sheets reviewed by the auditors. This year, in fact, we closed our balance sheets on 31st March 2014. It was also signed by 15th May. That’s the speed of information from an ERP. If we were to make this balance sheet manually, maybe the balance sheet would have been correct but we would still always be wondering whether it is accurate or not.
