Save Manpower Costs By Providing Multi-Skills Training

ERP has certainly brought my entire organization on a single database; but it has also resulted in the need to train my existing employees in different fields. Earlier we would have needed special skills for each department because my whole organization was driven by skills of individuals, not by a standard system. Now that I have a standard system I would like to make better use of my manpower. I have realized that a lot of changes are needed to make effective use of InstaNAV – I need to change some of my processes also.

For instance, if I want the person responsible for purchase to be able to invoice my client, he needs some training not only on InstaNAV but also on the basic billing process & the business processes involved. Now we are streamlining all of that. Even my technical people can now do some invoicing or make a purchase order. If the purchase team is unavailable they can come and work on a Sunday & get it done, earlier they had to wait for the next day for the purchase person to come & make the purchase order – that is not required anymore. In case of urgency, they can very well make a purchase order and get the whole process moving faster. But to be able to do that, everyone needs to be trained on everything. That is what we are in the process of doing right now.

So in that effect you can say that I have saved some money in my manpower as my labor level person can do jobs in which he is not trained to do.
